The Collage is well organized with qualified and competent human resources both in academic and administration with various qualifications. The dominant groups are professors and Lecturers whose main duties are teaching, conducting problem solving research and community services. Almost all teachers have the experiences of at least one year work experience in certified university before joining our college. Hence, they are highly qualified with rich experience and able to produce competent professionals.
Our college has organized fifteen skill laboratories which are well facilitated and equipped with recent and modern materials. They are histology, Anatomy Museum, clinical chemistry, microbiology, urine analysis, integrated physical pharmacy and pharmaceutics, industrial pharmacy, pharmacology and pharmaceutical analysis and several nursing demonstrations rooms. Uniquely, the center for research and to demonstrate the effect of drugs by using laboratory animals has established and functional. They all managed by highly qualified technical assistants.
Concurrently, it is owned with necessary, adequate and advanced material resource including one big academic library which is adequate and quit space with variety of books for contemplation. Our modern library is equipped with over 4000 copies of references and text books. In addition, there are over 20 computers loaded with nearly 500 books in soft copies and direct internet access for our students and faculty members The expertise of the librarians can help guide our students through essential research steps and help them to discover and access unfamiliar resources.
We encourage our student to have the community service organizations in the area which need real support like HIV/AIDS, Old people home, post-natal care follow up and school health.
Asella Rehoboth General Hospital and Medical College is one of privately owned institution found in the rural setting of south east Oromia regional state in the town of Asella which is 175 km far from Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia. Rehoboth General Hospital was established in 2007 E.C by Dr. Kedir Monjor who is pediatrician by profession and exemplary businessman in appreciation of the local community health related problems to provide health care to people of Arsi Zonal Administration and the nearby zones and Districts, whereas the college (former Rehoboth Medical Col was established in 2007 E.C to train competent and ethical health professionals for the future of the country Before coming to the present position several developmental stages were encountered with all difficulties and challenges. He was first started the medical service by he’s own effort in small clinic in year 1983 E.C. and soon up graded to the medium clinic in 1986 E.C. In response to the wide need of particularly rural community (where the majority of population live), this medium clinic was up graded to the higher clinic in he’s owns new building in 1995 where it’s later upgraded to general hospital and Rehoboth Medical College both inclusively in 2007 E.C.
The developmental process and current stage of both hospital and medical college are seems incremental. It was beginning in small scale and now became wide with huge social responsibilities. One can imagine that this achievement could not be reached without having far vision and strategical thinking. This tell us the owner had designed wide plan but started with small activities and grown up to the present status which is believed to be the right track for normal growth and development.
Pharmacy is true science-based profession. Pharmacy is art of the preparation and standardization of drugs. Pharmacy is business-pharmacist can own from small retail pharmacy up to pharmaceutical industry. Our college department of pharmacy is the ideal place where all these objectives can be realized.
The best clinical decisions are made based on laboratory findings, which are what our profession should aspire to." Thus, Medical Laboratory Science professionals play a critical role in good medical decision-making. People who enjoy science and research prefer our college Medical Laboratory Science department because it is the just right place where all these goals can be achieved.
